For 2026–27, three major public universities removed their supplemental essays: the University of Virginia (except for Nursing applicants), UNC Chapel Hill, and Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech said the supplement "was no longer a differentiating factor," and UNC said removing it simplifies applying.
